When you are making a payment from your card account to a merchant, the transaction is sent through the POS machine terminal or the ePayment Gateway (if it is an online transaction) to the network (eg., RUPAY, VISA, Mastercard) they then send the payment to the respective bank which bank has issued this card. The Card issuer Bank can approves or rejects the payment depending on the account balance and the credit balance in your card as the case may be. Basis this approval the merchant offers you service. Now the merchant needs to be paid his money less the transaction service fee. Also, the transaction service fee is to be split across below parties
1. The acquirer, The bank which has installed the POS machine at the merchant.
2. The Issuer, The bank which issued the card to the customer.
3. Network, the network may be used VISA, MasterCard, RUPA.
